Our finished basement feels damp all of a sudden. What should we do? Heather B.

Naturally, you will want to remove the dampness with a dehumidifier. However, that doesn't solve the real problem which may be basement walls that are leaking moisture. It may be time to see a specialist about sealing the walls and the floor.

My deck needs some help! The paint is peeling and there seems to be some mildewing of the boards. Where do I begin for a deck clean-up so that I can have friends over again?! Thanks, David Read More »

I was on the roof of my house not too long ago cleaning out gutters. I noticed a few spots where the shingles of the roof do not overlap, leaving exposed nails here and there. I have not had any leaks but I don't like the idea of these being exposed. Aside from having a major roof overhaul (which may not be too far away now), do you know of any kind of sealant or short-term fix I can use to insure those areas are protected from weather?
Thanks, Mike C.
