Vinyl seat cover to fiberglass pan

Have a fiberglass motorcycle seat pan I already spray adhesived the foam and vinyl together on the seat and need to bond the vinyl edges ( approx 5/8) to the bottom of the pan . I can't use the traditional staple gun as it doesn't work well on fiberglass , have to glue - BUT I want it to be permanent - will GG work for me .

Re: Vinyl seat cover to fiberglass pan

Gorilla Glue will work on fiberglass as long as the surface is scratched up first giving it some texture.  Vinyl, however, is a trial and error application.  I have spoken to customers who have had great success using Gorilla Glue on vinyl and others that have not faired as well.  It depends on how the vinyl was manufactured.  Running some test applications first is highly recommended.

Re: Vinyl seat cover to fiberglass pan

Thx for the excellent advice . It turned out well . My vinyl was the type that had a white clothish backing dampening and a film of glue then clamping worked great. I just had to remember glue will puff up under the vinyl. I used slats of wood on both sides of the clamp and made sure the slats would overlap my glue seam - worked fine . Sliced off extra glue foam before it hardened . Done
