Ki Nassauer- Successful founder and president of Junk Revolution and Junk Bonanza
Tell Ki  that her career is in the dumpster and you’ll get a “thank you and a polite smile.”

Ki recently founded Junk Revolution, her newest company focusing on public appearances and a unique website www.junkrevolution.com, filled with ideas and information on the cutting-edge of the junk world. Also, Ki writes for her Country Home column and runs Junk Bonanza. Held in September in the rolling countryside of Minneapolis, the Bonanza features wares from over 100 handpicked dealers who must pass muster for her juried junk show.

Ki loves the business and is committed to making certain that junking is alive and well; sustainable and functional, and downright, fun.

Sue Whitney- President of JUNKMARKET
Nearly nine years ago, Sue Whitney (then a stay-at-home mom of ten years) was looking for something meaningful to do outside of the home. With her kids in school, she wanted to pursue a career that would feed both her mind and soul. While watching her son A.J. play hockey, her passion dawned on her: JUNK! As a veteran stuff-in-the rough shopper, she realized that while others went to flea markets to find turn-key antiques, she was digging, scraping, and crawling to find the junk no one else wanted. But, then again, she didn't see junk. She saw one-of-a-kind furniture, whimsical accessories, and renewed uses for recycled nostalgia.

JUNKMARKET’s emergent appeal led Sue to her ultimate goal of sharing her stylish reuse, recycle, and re-purpose message on a national level. Sue is the creative engine behind wwww.junkmarketstyle.com and is a co-author of leading “junking” books.

Project #7
Fall Luminary

It may be warm in your neck of the woods, but fall is coming! Replace the waning daylight with warm candlelight through this autumn-themed luminary. Makes you want a cup of cider, doesn’t it?

Materials Needed:
Round galvanized container (ours is 9 in. tall and 5 1/2 in. diameter)
Scrap fabric
Six junk washers with 1/2 in. centers
3/4 yard ribbon
Electrical wire
One piece of junk hardware
Gorilla Super Glue
Decoupage glue
Fine sand paper
4 to 6 in. pillar candle

Tools List:
Drill
1/2 in. drill bit
Metal File
Twine
Sponge Brush

Method
Step 1. Clean galvanized container.

Step 2. Measure circumference with twine.

Step 3. Measure to desired height.

Step 4. Cut fabric to these sizes allowing for a 1/2 in. overlap.

Step 5.  Apply decoupage glue to container.

Step 6. Apply Gorilla Super Glue to backside edges of fabric

Step 7. Adhere fabric to container smoothing out any wrinkles.

Step 8. Apply a coat of decoupage to fabric, let dry for 30 minutes. Repeat this process three to five times.

Step 9: When last coat of decoupage glue is dry, spray with water and with fine sand paper.

Step 10: Measure top edge of container, preparing to drill holes. Space evenly.

Step 11: Drill holes with 1/2 in. drill bit.

Step 12: File holes with metal file for a smooth finish.

Step 13: Affix washers over holes with Gorilla Super Glue.

Step 14: Tie ribbon above fabric, adding electrical wire and junk hardware as embellishment.
